Selected fairly high in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection, a third round pick of the Erie Otters, Neville drew high praise from the Otters' hockey staff as they were actively interested in having him join the organization in the future. On the other hand, the Woodbridge, Ontario native also drew consistent interest from a variety of top Division I NCCA schools, most notably from Brown University.
In the midst of his second season of Junior A hockey with the Toronto Junior Canadiens, one of defenseman Zach Shapiro's primary objectives, along with helping his team to another long playoff run like he did in his rookie campaign when the Junior Canadiens won two playoff rounds before ultimately falling to the Wellington Dukes in the Central Division Finals, was to secure some certainty for his hockey future.
The first game of the final day for the Showcase Tournament hosted at the Ray Twinney Complex involved the Pickering Panthers facing off against the Dixie Beehives in a match that didn't mean much in the standings. This is Pickering's second game in the Showcase event, they lost the first one (4 - 2) against Streetsville and hope to grab a win in their second opportunity against Dixie who sit in second last overall.
The second game on Wednesday, December 30th at the Ray Twinney Complex featured the Peterborough Stars vs the Orangeville Crushers. This was a big game for both teams. The Stars needed a win today to get back in there division race with teams that are only ahead of them by one or two points. Orangeville had a chance to close the gap on the Hurricanes with a win tonight.
